Relaunch!

The Cups N Cakes Radio Show was the catalyst for everything this Network has become. The radio show began in 2014 when lifelong best friends Jeff MacCallum and Carey Newton wanted a way to get together and hang out every two weeks. Nobody could have ever predicted that their radio show would spawn into a website that has become one of the most trusted sources for discovering new Canadian music.

Jeff and Carey have long since unplugged their microphones. Having said all they could say, the two parted ways from their show and various volunteers took the reigns. Carey stopped volunteering his time to focus on other endeavours while Jeff began growing the Cups N Cakes Network into what it is today. The show carried on as usual with Brittany Rudyck hosting for period of time, followed by Ella Coyes and Kent Phillips each producing their own respective versions of the radio show. The latter two producers were going steady when the 2020 pandemic began unfolding in Canada and forced the radio show (which was recorded at Jeff MacCallum’s home studio) into hiatus.

It’s hard to believe that the final episode of the Radio Show is now one year old. The year without the show has left a void in the content delivered by the Cups N Cakes Network. Today we are excited to reveal that the void is about to be filled.

The Cups N Cakes Radio Show will relaunch on Monday, March 1st with a special two part episode that will be hosted by our founder and content curator, Jeff MacCallum. New episodes will begin arriving every two weeks. The producing duties will be shared by a returning Kent Phillips (1st show back airs March 29th), and new producers Lana Winterhalt and Andrew “Viffee” Viflanzoff. These two longtime pals will bring genuine fun and friendship to the radio show that longtime listeners will find reminiscent of the shows beginnings with Jeff and Carey. Catch Lana and Viffee’s first show on March 15th.
