Regina’s Wolf Willow harken back to a time when country music ruled the landscape. They play original honkey-tonk and western swing meant for the dance floor. With a new EP released at the start of October and a quick jaunt into Alberta this weekend, this eight-piece country monster are giving the Cups N Cakes Network the honour of presenting the fifth episode of their impeccable YouTube variety show, “The Wolf Willow Radio Hour”.

The Wolf Willow Radio Hour continues the tradition of the country music variety show by recreating the aesthetic and excitement of those old broadcasts. Alongside the incredible music, the episodes incorporate a story telling element which was a central part to variety shows that has almost been forgotten.

Episode five was produced in collaboration with a team of Regina artists known more for their conceptual performance art and installations. Three key players for SwampFest lent their talents to these episodes; Eric Hill (Director, videographer), Whistlin Jeff Meldrum (set design), and Amber PB (wardrobe design). Another key part of the team was Kris Alvarez (Assistant Director) who is well known as a director and actor in the Saskatchewan theatre scene.

This past January (with funding help from the Saskatchewan Arts Board), four episodes were shot at the Saskatchewan Sound Stage in Regina. The music was all recorded live off the floor by Orion Paradis of Soul Sound Studios.
