Single Premiere: Laverne - Augustus

Vancouver’s Laverne are wasting no time getting new music out after last years Yarrow, burst them onto the scene. Blending garage-rock and post-punk, Yarrow’s grimy basement sounds resonated as a refreshing foray away from the highly produced post-punk albums that are flooding the world with the resurgence of the genre. Geoff Maclennan’s frenetic percussion paired with the weaving interplay between Pherbie Midgley’s bass and frontman, Max Anderson-Baier’s guitar set a perfect backdrop for his semi-slurred vocals to steal the show.

Recorded and mixed entirely by their own Pherbie Midgley, Laverne is dedicated to a DYI ethos. We are pleased to present “Augustus”, which is the first single from a forthcoming album due late summer.

If you live in Vancouver, catch Laverne at Red Gate on June 22nd , the Biltmore on July 12th and as part of the Rocket From Russia Fest on July 19th at The Wise Hall.
