Video Premiere: The Wind Whistles - "Wave Of Emotion"

Who are The Wind Whistles? The younger readers might not know the significance of that name. The duo, comprised of Tom Prilesky and Liza Moser, make genre colliding music that fuses anti-folk, roots revival, pop and alternative rock. For awhile, they were considered a major force in the Vancouver music scene having toured Canada and Europe extensively from 2006-2010. They had three albums under their belt and it seemed as though the sky was the limit. Sadly a devastating car crash that nearly took the lives of the entire band (they were touring with two other pals), and also tough personal turmoil put them on a hiatus that would end up lasting a decade.

Today we are pleased to share that the decade of silence is over. The forthcoming album, entitled Sail Away, isn’t meant to signal the beginning of a new chapter but rather a heartfelt goodbye for good. In a statement explaining the release on The Wind Whistles website, they explain:

“It’s hard to know what to say about this album. It’s heavy for us, but also beautiful and ocean sized (pun intended). There are several layered stories here. The most obvious story is about leaving your home town, which we both did in recent years. Beginning with a need to leave everything and everyone, mourning all that has been lost, and inevitably coming back to what held us up in the first place: community. A deeper layer to this album is that it follows the cycles of life. From the opening line of “open my eye…”, the excitement of being alive, to the increasing expectations, heaviness of responsibility, and ultimately returning to the source (death, rebirth). And yet another layer chronicles the unraveling and dramatic changes in our personal lives. Over six years in the making, this is TWW at our most vivid.”

The Cups N Cakes Network are deeply honoured to premiere the video for the first single from Sail Away entitled “Wave Of Emotion.” Follow The Wind Whistles on Facebook as they’ll be rolling out new singles periodically leading up to the album release on September 3rd.
