Witch Prophet has released a remix for “MUSA” - the stirring lead single from her sophomore DNA Activation. The brand new remix aptly arrives today on Juneteenth, a day to honour Black liberation and celebrate the end of slavery in the United States. The remix comes with extra cause for celebration as earlier this week DNA Activation was named one of the 40 albums on the prestigious 2020 Polaris Music Prize Long List. Read our “Pick of the Week” review of the album here. The “MUSA” remix features a sharp focused verse from collaborator Stas THEE Boss and hypnotic percussion produced by SUN SUN.

“MUSA Remix is a reflection on the current state of the world. A critique on culture vultures, police, and those that do not recognize the influence of Black people within their lives. I’ve been a friend and a fan of Stas THEE Boss for over a decade and decided to reach out to her to see if she would bless the track. She said yes and within a day had the verse written, recorded and sent back to me. I literally screamed with amazement when I played it and heard her confidently rap ‘You drink the juice up, I Black up, you blue hug’. It was perfect.”

- Witch Prophet

The remix opens and closes with one of Witch Prophet’s most poignant hooks: “Where do we go from here? When the whole world is falling through darkness and we cannot see the light...” The rest of the track is left wide open for Stas THEE Boss to take control. Her verse is full of wisdom and poetic lyricism: “Math I do the math / imma master at that / You be Headed to beheading / Where the hell ya head at / I be Planning out my path / You attached to my raft / Keep forgetting where you sit / Admit it’s on my behalf”.
