Premiere: Mike Coffee - I Can Find You Anywhere
Mike Coffen cut his teeth in the small music community of St John’s Newfoundland. Having spent more than a decade playing in many local favourites, he relocated to Montreal to make his mark in a new city. Coffen began releasing singles during the pandemic that culminated with the release of his debut album, Bond, in May of 2020. The album had a delightful psych-garage aesthetic, that high watermark one hopes to achieve with a lofi release. Bond sounded genuine, immediate, and was highly addictive. The album received little attention, in large part because it was released quietly, without fanfare. Coffen still, to this date, hasn’t even performed those songs live!
Luckily, all that is about to change as Coffen readies the follow up to Bond. A backing band has been assembled, an album roll-out plan is in the works, and 2022 should prove a year when Coffen gets noticed.
The first single (“Can You Feel?”) from the forthcoming album was released at the end of the summer and today, the Cups N Cakes Network is excited to premiere the second.
The track is called “I Can Find You Anywhere,” and for it, Coffen drew inspiration from personal reflection on darker days in the past. Like with all his material, Coffen wrote and self-produced the track entirely on his own, writing and recording each instrument himself. He even mixed and mastered everything himself. This true DIY spirit comes through as you listen to “I Can Find You Anywhere.”
