New Label Alert: We Are Time

This is a first for us here at the Cups N Cakes Network. Today we are pleased as punch to be able to announce the official launch of a brand new label called We Are Time.

We Are Time is an artist-focused initiative from Canadian music figurehead, Jesse Locke (Writer: Bandcamp Daily, Pitchfork - Drummer: Tough Age, Chandra) and Chandra Oppenheim who is known for (at the age of 10) fronting the 1980s NYC mutant disco group, The Dance. These two met as Locke became the drummer for Oppenheim’s comeback band, simply titled - Chandra. Their relationship has obviously grown as, together, they now aim to document contemporary music with a focus on intergenerational collaboration.

The name “We Are Time” is based on the 1979 song by UK post-punk band The Pop Group, who have graciously given their permission. The first release from We Are Time will be Chandra Mixtape Vol. 1 and will arrive on April 2nd for Bandcamp Friday. The mixtape features Oppenheim’s dub-inspired collaboration with producer Nyles Miszczyk as GNDN, a debut from rock duo Body Breaks, the return of Blonde Elvis, and more.

This mixtape is just the beginning as Locke and Oppenheim aim to release multiple full-length albums before 2021 is finished. All releases will include beautifully designed physical editions and digital downloads.

Check out the ad trailer for Chandra Mixtape Vol. 1 below and visit the We Are Time Bandcamp page here.

(Pre-Orders for Chandra Mixtape Vol. 1 are available today but we STRONGLY encourage you to wait to purchase the release this Friday (April 2nd) for Bandcamp Friday. On the first Friday of each month, Bandcamp waives their fees on the sale of music. This means the artists you support will get 100% of the proceeds.)
