Premiere: Dresser - Shield

Montreal art-rock trio, Dresser are preparing to release their debut album, Seventeen Blocks And Then Some, on June 4th. The band formed in 2018, shortly after songwriter Finn Dalbeth relocated from his home of Auckland, New Zealand. They’d been gaining attention in their city’s indie scene with frequent shows and their debut, self-titled EP. Today we are very excited to premiere the music video for their second single from the forthcoming album.

The song is called “Shield” and it’s actually a re-working of a version found on their EP. The track was a longtime staple in their live set and over time had morphed into a far more energetic performance so they decide to re-record it for Seventeen Blocks And Then Some.

Regarding the song, front person Finn Dalbeth stated:

"Shield essentially reckons with the emotional hurdles I faced when trying to start a life for myself in Montréal at the age of 19. I didn't really have any structure within which to meet people so there was a lot of pushing myself out of my comfort zone in attempts at interactions and relationships with mixed results. Chris and Kevin (bass/drums) were actually some of the first friends I made in this city so I think the music video ties this all up nicely."
