Premiere: JP Lancaster - Tango Town
The Cups N Cakes Network has been championing Kamloops artist JP Lancaster for years. First in his former band At Mission Dolores, then his fantastic solo work, and also everything his label Factotum Cassettes & Oddities has released. He was one of the main driving forces that helped create the music scene and musical identity that Kamloops has today. He booked gigs for years when nobody was doing so and taught a younger generation what a vibrant music scene can look like in a small city. His contributions to the scene in Kamloops should never go forgotten.
Today it comes with selfish sadness that we announce JP Lancaster’s next release, Prowl, will be his last.
Lancaster recently revealed he is closing the book on his music career, a career that landed him on our list of the “Best Albums of 2021” for his debut solo album- Around Town, and on our “Best Albums of 2019 - Honourable Mention” list for At Mission Dolores’ fantastic album, Last Night Outside Her Apartment. Not to mention the incredible acts he introduced us to from his label (such as: Jared Jackel’s Bad Vibrations, Clea Anaïs, Yaris Paris, and more).
Simply put… Thanks JP for everything you gave us!
With that out of the way, lets get down to business! JP might be done after the release of Prowl but last I checked… Prowl isn’t out yet!
We are excited to premiere the EPs second single, “Tango Town.” The track sees Lancaster once again accompanied by his studio band of Jackson J Gardner (bass, vocals) and Graham Jones (drums).
