Premiere: PLEASEBENiCE - TO BE OKAY

PLEASEBENiCE is a trans-female psychedelic pop artist and producer that blends indie pop with hip-hop and rock. Much of her lyrics surround themes of love and navigating society as a trans person. We first introduced Canadian music fans to PLEASEBENiCE when we reviewed her debut album, I Love You So Much!, for our “Pick Of The Week” column. That was roughly two and a half years ago and today we are very excited to help announce a new record!

We don’t know a ton about the album yet but it’s set to arrive in the spring and was co-produced by Josh Eastman of Helm Studios. Taking cues from artists like DOMI and JD Beck, Injury Reserve, Dijon, Phoebe Bridgers, and Dean Blunt, the album will boast incredible pop appeal juxtaposed with wild experimental cuts.

Today we are excited to premiere the track “TO BE OKAY” that deals with the turbulent experiences of being trans and feeling disjointed from your own body. The song is meant to act as an anthem for anyone who doesn’t see themselves fitting into the manufactured body positivity movements on social media.
