Video premiere: Phantom Orchid - Effervescence

Cups N Cakes is pleased to premiere the new video from Phantom Orchid, the ethereal pop project of Kira Sawatzky. Sawatzky was previously a part of the recording project Japan Sue, and after taking a hiatus from the music industry, is back with Phantom Orchid, a soulful, pop-electronique project in the tradition of artists like Kraftwerk and Stereolab.

Her new single “Effervescence” is an exploration of the benevolence of the afterlife, and an invitation to unlearn the patterns that keep us from being our authentic selves. The accompanying stop motion video was filmed and directed by Sawatsky.

The single and video will be released on April 4th via Haushöme Records, and Phantom Orchid’s previous single “SUN EYES” can be found on Bandcamp here.
