Premiere: Ramen Fog - Solar System

Cups N Cakes is excited to debut the new double-single “Solar System”, and it’s B-side “Coconut” by Vancouver quartet Ramen Fog. This release is a follow-up to their 2022 single “Slippy Fingers”, and the band (consisting of Amy Tan on vocals, Rowan McDonald on guitar, Torrey McKee on bass, and Adam Gold on drums) is gearing up for a potential EP release sometime in 2023.

Influenced by the marriage of soul and bubblegum pop, “Solar System” delivers an unfiltered message of letting one’s self love and be loved throughout navigating complicated relationship dynamics. “Coconut”, meanwhile, features warm guitar tones that entwine with Tan’s mesmerizing vocal melodies to tell the story of awakening from the fever dream that falling in love in the Summer provides come Autumn.

The band is teasing that these two songs are part of a larger release, with an EP maybe coming sometime in 2023. Until then, these two tracks can be preordered through Bandcamp, and will be available on all streaming services on March 17th.

"I did it all very DIY. Everything you see was me learning on the fly. I'm a carpenter not a musician, or a journalist, or a publicist... I'm a carpenter and a weird crazy music fan that thought he could do something fun that might benefit something I care about"

Over the years, MacCallum's commitment to elevating Canadian music earned him a spot as a Polaris Prize Juror, a WCMA Juror, a consultant for music festival curation, and a dear friend to independent music in Canada.
