Video premiere: The Psychic Alliance - Osprey

We are pleased to premiere the video for “Osprey” from Calgary mainstay The Psychic Alliance, filmed at the National Music Centre in Calgary. The band has been around in some form or another since 2008, and their latest release also will be there last in Canada before songwriter Shaun Lee moves to the UK. The song is available to stream everywhere today, with B-side “Cradle 2 Grave”.

“Osprey” is a slice of power-pop goodness, with more than a little bit of late 60’s jangle and twang thrown in for good measure. The video features the band recording the song at the National Music Centre, notable for it’s collection of vintage instruments and equipment which the band uses to full effect on “Osprey”. The baroque piano section in the middle of the song stands out as a particularly nice touch, and something about the organ lends the proceedings a decidedly They Might Be Giants kind of flavour, in the best possible way.

“Osprey” is available to stream everywhere now, and can be purchased on Bandcamp with it’s B-side “Cradle to Grave” here.

"I did it all very DIY. Everything you see was me learning on the fly. I'm a carpenter not a musician, or a journalist, or a publicist... I'm a carpenter and a weird crazy music fan that thought he could do something fun that might benefit something I care about"

Over the years, MacCallum's commitment to elevating Canadian music earned him a spot as a Polaris Prize Juror, a WCMA Juror, a consultant for music festival curation, and a dear friend to independent music in Canada.
