Released May 5th, 2023

Another day and another top-notch Canadian release. Today, we’re looking at the new release from  Canadian hip-hop artist, Mouraine, and his new album In Search of Gold, out via Birthday Cake Records. The album's undeniable vibe flows throughout and is highly relatable to seasoned and freshman listeners. This album comes with as much triumph and accomplishment as challenge and vulnerability.

Mouraine dropped a video for the track “Sick Of Your Love” to further introduce the album to listeners. “Sick Of Your Love” is a song that examines the imperfections of relationships and navigating hurdles of love and hate. "Nothing is worse than trying to please someone who is wishy-washy, hot and cold, in and out, and indecisive when it comes to loving you back," Mouraine says. "No one needs to go above and beyond to prove that they need to be loved back."

On the track “Big Dawg,” Mouraine teamed up with LA rapper Westside Boogie, this good-time anthem booms with energy, heavy bass and sharp bars that carry the duo through their personal evolution process. It followed Mouraine's sonic story of his humble beginnings on “Tonight” and anthemic single, “Gold,” evoking the inner and outer glow of realizing self-worth and pursuing potential to the highest degree. The video for “Gold” was filmed in Joshua Tree National Park, California, directed by Mat Dunlap and assisted by Kevin Manning.

The record features the Western Canadian Music Award (WCMA) winning producer-engineer duo deadmen (Matt Peters & Matt Schellenberg), In Search of Gold moves with a melodious beat and Mouraine's clever rhyme and verse. The album shows a new side of Mouraine, exploring a new drive and energy. Mouraine and deadmen crafted new sounds, showcased Mouraine's growth as an artist, and created a sonic representation of Mouraine's life journey. The record also hosts features from his brother, MOTO, Canadian R&B icon, JRDN, and more. Audiences, both familiar or newly introduced to Mouraine's catalogue and unparalleled stage presence, will witness In Search of Gold as a byproduct of years of hard work, determination and talent, failure and loss.

Recently, Mouraine performed at JUNOFest in his hometown of Edmonton. The summer is busy for this artist with live appearances at FOCUS Wales in Wrexham, UK, at Penny Back Room before heading to Brighton for The Great Escape. In Search of Gold has a great vibe and will be the perfect play for the summer season, don’t sleep on this release.
