Evil Ebenezer & C-Lance - Steroid Era

Evil Ebenezer is a Vancouver-based rapper with a grimy flow and a battle tested delivery, whose new album, Steroid Era, uses the great game of baseball as a metaphor for striving for authenticity in a complicated industry. His flow and cadence drips with confidence, as he swaggers through battles and tribulations, skin thick and calloused, toughened and creased, like a perfectly broken-in catcher’s mitt. You can feel the worn-in leather of a dude who’s lived through the pains and trials of a slow ascent, from the minors to the majors, guided by the mistakes and mishaps of the game.
And now he stands, years into a career, a wizened slugger, bruised but not broken, the scars of battle shining like the bright night lights of the fields where he’s paid his dues: Chilliwack, Scarborough, Hastings, False Creek hitting dingers, foul balls and unforced errors, going belly to belly with an enraged umpire or two, playing triple in Sarasota with a chick from Minnesota, hitting Dre instrumentals at the club in Chilliwack downtown by the Petro up and down the highway in a beat up Tempo.
Ebenezer swings and connects with pitch perfect fastballs from producer C-Lance and rounds the bases with the swagger and ease.
Steroid Era lays out the formula for longevity in the game: a consistent ERA, keep the needle out of your ass (Sosa and McGuire take note) and, mostly of all, talk slick and carry a large bat.
Display this one atop your mantle, Mickey.
