Nebular Wave, Jenny Berkel, ALIAS, and Ritual Dictates

Nebular Wave - A Polarized Planetoid

This new release from Edmonton duo Nebular Wave is a prog-synth rock album inspired through contemporary events. Featuring a visceral anonymous quote in its liner notes, this release is an instrumental mellow zone. It reminds me of eighties electronic music with a modern touch of serenity blended with fast paced tension.

Jenny Berkel - The Quiet Between

These five tracks from Jenny Berkel is a folk album that’s perfect for those looking for an auditory escape from the bitter cold weather. Closing my eyes, I can almost feel the grass below my feet and the warm breeze on my face. This album has a beauty to it akin to hot chocolate on a cold winter's night.

ALIAS - Jozef

With an all red aesthetic and a cover that alludes to The Overlook Hotel, this twelve piece release is unique in its presentation, specifically in having the opening track as the second part of a two part track. Their blend of abstraction and structure makes for an album laden in electronic and psychedelic rock.

Ritual Dictates - No Great Loss

This new metal band has a new release, and boy does it kick ass. They blend the heavy sound of metal with a unique touch of gospel through their angelic vocal delivery and use of organs and piano. “Autumn Song” is by far my favorite, as an eight minute power epic it’ll empower your soul like nothing else.
