Hyaenas, Tea Fannie, bananahaus, and Jerry Leger

Hyaenas - Little Trophy

This seven-track album is about as visceral as it gets. With socially relevant lyrics from coal miners to the #MeToo movement, to more abstract concepts like astronomy and old tales. The sound captures these themes in a unique and catchy mix of elements from both rock and pop.

Tea Fannie - Okay ft. Goldenchild

This new single from Alberta’s Tea Fannie opens with some hazy jazz before jumping hard into some fire bars with a catchy instrumental, courtesy of Goldenchild. Her all-changing flow and relatable lyrics are all the better through how quickly she delivers her words. This kind of jam is empowering, and passionate, and it just goes hard. What more could you ask for?

bananahaus - welcome to the bananahaus

This is the debut release from Vancouver’s bananahaus (German for Banana House). Recorded at said house, this six-track album is chaos incarnate. Tracey’s unique vocal delivery makes helps to give them a sound of their own. They describe themselves as ‘skronk’, and I don’t know what the hell that is, but it sounds about right.

JERRY LEGER - Live From Paradise

Their first hometown performance since COVID, this live release captures the change Jerry and his band have gone through in their decade of playing together. As for the sound, their folk approach to rock and roll gives the album a timeless aesthetic, and this is exacerbated through the album's cover art. Performing to a packed house, these four tracks are chock full of love.
