Joey O'Neil, Kyla Marlena, À La Mode, and Benjamin Dakota Rogers

Joey O’Neil - Phantom Vibes

So much can be said in such a small amount of lyrics and Joey O’Neil has achieved exactly that. If you have ever lived in an isolated/small community, you know the hub is usually at the post office boxes. In the song “PO Box”, Joey pens the visualizing lyrics: “Small town making small talk. I pretend I’m fine in line. Up on bulletin boards, I search for a sign of any kind.”

Kyla Marlena - S/T

With formidable vocals that surpass her time on earth, in Kyla Marlena debut self titled EP, she creates churning emotion and soulfelt realism. The suppressed high frequencies, in my opinion, add so much to the ominous and somber mood of the album.

À La Mode - Diversions

Winnipeg’s dream-pop artist À La Mode released Diversions, on October 13. Dominique Lemoine’s and the band’s discography and musical resume spans more than a decade. That alone is to be celebrated! The album is the perfect dessert after a flavorful meal. It satisfies you and gives you but a few more minutes to remind you just how wonderful everything is.

Benjamin Dakota Rogers - Elizabeth

On October 16, singer-songwriter Benjamin Dakota Rogers released Elizabeth, less than a year since his last LP, Paint Horse. Elizabeth has 4 classic country/bluegrass covers and two originals. But make no mistake, Elizabeth is 100% Benjamin Dakota Rogers!
