Edmonton’s Hex Beat have been pummelling stages (back when that was allowed) around their hometown since their inception in 2017. Although still a relatively new band, this trio has already put out two DIY EPs simply titled HB1 and HB2. Today we are very pleased to announce what the band is calling their debut. Out on November 6th via Mangled Tapes, A Series Of Kicks is a much more refined representation of what Hex Beat has been bringing to the stage. Intense and noisy post-punk permeate the EPs four tracks with lyrics that look inward, picking apart the effects of the daily grind on oneself.

Today we are very excited to premiere the first single from the EP. The song is called “Earning” and we get to deliver it in the form of an incredible music video of a puppet show about the literal sacrifices made to stay afloat in the corporate rat race. Made for less than a hundred dollars, the video was created by the band at the beginning of the Coronavirus Quarantine by crafting characters from household materials and a borrowed green screen.

Enjoy “Earning” below and mark November 6th on your calendar… That is the day you’ll best help Hex Beat by purchasing A Series Of Kicks because on the 6th, Bandcamp will be waiving their fees. That means Hex Beat will get 100% of the sale revenues on that day.
