At the start of this week, we premiered a video from the solo project of Pierce Kingan who was a member of Vancouver rock act, The Prettys. Today, as luck would have it, we are premiering a single from another member of that group. Josh Gatien has been releasing Americana soaked tunes under the name Want Ango (or Want ‘n’ Go). The name comes from somewhere in the purple-mountain-desert of a mushroom trip. Venture in deep enough and you may just find a celestial convenience store staffed by the souls of retired border collies. Dive even deeper into this strange trip as you pass through the entrance and you may just hear the music we are premiering today.

We caught up with Josh Gatien to ask him about the track we are premiering today:

“Water was written on a drive along Okanagan Lake, up on this sketchy bank looking down over a cliff. It's this thin windy road towards Fintry so all the cars coming the other direction felt like they might barrel you over the cliffside into the lake. It felt like we might die, Down by The Water. The song is about the death of dreams as you grow out of childhood. Recording, I wanted to get a gospel-shimmery sound going with the background vocals, Americana-ish.”

Enjoy!
