Greg Orrē may be best known as frontman for the Saskatoon pop act, Too Soon Monsoon, but in 2020 he has broken out on his own and released a impressive amount of solo material. In May he released the Be Nice Be Sad Be Free EP, then followed that in August with the full-length album, I Am In It Volume One. Today we are pleased to deliver his latest creation in the form of a Holiday single that was clearly written specifically for 2020 and the rising Covid numbers across Canada.

The song is called “I Might Not See You This Christmas,” and although it’s a bit of a sad reminder that most responsible Canadians will be spending the Holiday season away from their extended families, the song does end with positivity and hope. We are excited to deliver the song in the form of a video that was filmed by Greg’s partner Kristen Boyé during the massive snowstorm in early November that brought over 30 cm of snow to Saskatoon. Instead of cozying up indoors, Greg and Kristen took advantage of the blustery conditions to film scenes of Greg searching for joy in the blinding white-out storm.

The song was written this October while Greg was reflecting on the rising cases in his province of Saskatchewan. But as cases continued to soar leading up to the release of the single, the content of the song became more real each day, Greg shares:

Editing the video and listening to the song over and over again put me in a sad space, but eventually I made it to the end of the video where the lyrics take a more positive, comforting turn - focusing on the joys and blessings I have in my life regardless of where I’ll be on Christmas”.

We hope this helps get you in the Holiday spirit.
