Premiere: Finding Illinois - Video Camera Eyes

We first highlighted Toronto’s Rough//Shapes midway through 2020 with a “Quick Pick” review of their debut release. It was a great EP with thought provoking lyrics from frontman, Chris Veres, and today we are very excited to share a brand new project from Veres called Finding Illinois.

The moniker is inspired by the David Berman poem The Spine of the Snowman and the project was started as a way for Veres to experiment with combining lo-fi acoustic guitar and elements from shoegaze.

Today we are excited to premiere the debut single, “Video Camera Eyes,” which was inspired by a friend of Chris Veres’ who once said that he wished he had video camera eyes to record the ever changing moon in the night sky.

The track is from a two-song EP that will arrive on June 12th. It was produced by Jesse Turnbull, who also lended his talents on bass and Wurlitzer and features Jessica Salvo on backing vocals.
