Premiere: The Eclipse - Renegade
The Cups N Cakes Network have been championing Edmonton indie-pop act, The Eclipse since they dropped their fantastic debut EP, I Want Less, in 2018. We placed that it on our “Best EPs” list for that year and, more recently, we were lucky enough to premiere a new single called “Convenient Love”.
That track was the second song from their forthcoming debut album (expected in the fall of 2021) and today we are, once again, very happy to deliver an exclusive premiere of the record’s third single, “Renegade.”
The song is fuelled by dreamy guitars accentuated by atmospheric synths and a driving rhythm. The music delivers late summer vibes to urge you out of the house while you still can. Lyrically, “Renegade” is about that person who betrayed your trust, leeched from your hard work, or disappointed you in a pivotal moment. The music’s optimistic tone helps push you past the harm felt by that renegade.
