Video Premiere - Bossanova Frankenstein

A new menace has come to life. Built in a basement in Burlington, Ontario, a washed-up showman has been stitched together and brought to life by dark science. This creature stalks the clubs and pubs looking for its next victim and as Halloween draws near, it grows stronger and is feeling an urge to… dance!

Cups N Cakes is very excited to help introduce the world to Evan Henderson’s ghoulish purveyor of spooky grooves and dancehall beats, Bossanova Frankenstein!

The debut single is a pulsing introduction to Bossanova Frankenstein’s universe. Built on a cheap bossanova beat, dark synth grooves, and subtle surf guitar, the track will ear-worm its way into your brain and you’ll be singing it long past Halloween.

Alongside the single is a music video starring Bossanova Frankenstein himself and filmed entirely in his “haunted bachelor pad castle.” The video was directed and edited by Evan Henderson on a $0 budget and comes with a warning from Henderson: “Dance along if you dare—but beware: once you start, you may never stop!”.

Hit play on this B-Movie spookshow and sing-along in the dark while dancing with Bossanova Frankenstein himself… just be aware, don’t gaze too closely to his evil pelvic thrusts or you may find yourself entranced for eternity.

Jeff MacCallum

Jeff MacCallum is our founder. He created Cups N Cakes simply because he had a love of local music. Soon the platform grew beyond the confines of his scene in Edmonton to include all of Canada.

"I did it all very DIY. Everything you see was me learning on the fly. I'm a carpenter not a musician, or a journalist, or a publicist... I'm a carpenter and a weird crazy music fan that thought he could do something fun that might benefit something I care about"

Over the years, MacCallum's commitment to elevating Canadian music earned him a spot as a Polaris Prize Juror, a WCMA Juror, a consultant for music festival curation, and a dear friend to independent music in Canada.
