Premiere: The Ratskin Family Band - "All You Fascists (Bound to Lose)"

The Ratskin Family Band is the rowdy, foot-stomping, two-stepping, cat-callin’, country band we’ve all been waiting for. They’ve made a name for themselves in their hometown of Toronto but not in the indie music underground… no, The Ratskin Family Band have been getting rave reviews in their hometown’s drag scene. Yup, you read that right! Cups N Cakes is so very excited to introduce our readers to the worlds first all-drag country band!

Made up of Amanda Prior (banjo), Kitty Creature (fiddle), Terry Dickoff (bass), Zephline (acoustic guitar), Sherry Douglas (pedal steel), and Tago Mago (percussion), The Ratskin Family Band have been wowing audiences with a live-performance drag show where they rip through classic country standards, reimagined pop hits, and original country numbers with queer themes. Today their debut single, "All You Fascists (Bound to Lose)", launches on all streaming services and Cups N Cakes is proud to deliver the premiere.

The song takes the chorus from the 1942 Woody Guthrie protest song of the same name, and reworks the verses through a queer lens targeting the rise of transphobia, homophobia and discrimination affecting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community worldwide. It’s a modern twist on a beloved classic that is sure to get those toes-a-tappin’.

Leading up to their debut EP in the fall, the band will be heading on tour this summer across Ontario and Quebec with stops in Guelph, Prince Edward County, London, Windsor, Collingwood, Kingston, Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal. Check out "All You Fascists (Bound to Lose)" below and do not miss The Ratskin Family Band when they come riding into a honky tonk near you.

Jeff MacCallum is our founder. He created Cups N Cakes simply because he had a love of local music. Soon the platform grew beyond the confines of his scene in Edmonton to include all of Canada.

"I did it all very DIY. Everything you see was me learning on the fly. I'm a carpenter not a musician, or a journalist, or a publicist... I'm a carpenter and a weird crazy music fan that thought he could do something fun that might benefit something I care about"

Over the years, MacCallum's commitment to elevating Canadian music earned him a spot as a Polaris Prize Juror, a WCMA Juror, a consultant for music festival curation, and a dear friend to independent music in Canada.
