Premiere: Shiv and the Carvers - “Executionary”

Toronto quartet Shiv and the Carvers return with an energetic new single. Following the release of last year’s Tell Me You Love Me AgainEP (which made an appearance on the Cups N Cakes Favourite EPs of 2025 list), the band return with a rager called "Executionary." The single delivers skate-punk infused alt-rock catchy enough to burrow into your brain for days on end. Thematically, Shiv examines anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and self-punishment.

Shiv explains:

“The terror and shame that I feel over imagining the worst case scenario is the real punishment. Worrying only causes more suffering before the actual outcome occurs. I know this, but I love to punish myself before the world does.”

Jeff MacCallum is our founder. He created Cups N Cakes simply because he had a love of local music. Soon the platform grew beyond the confines of his scene in Edmonton to include all of Canada.
