Premiere: The Air Contains Honey - “How To Think”
The Air Contains Honey is a Montreal ensemble that was founded by Adam Kinner and Jacob Wren in 2018. As the duo sculpted and molded their artistic vision, the project began to grow and now has become its own small orchestra of sorts. While working on their forthcoming debut album, a small core crafted arrangements and built up melodic and harmonic parts before Kinner orchestrated the music to be played by a larger group of 19 musicians, 18 of whom also sang around a single microphone. The result is The Air Contains Honey Sings Quotes set for release through the Italian label Quindi Records on November 20th.
The album title delivers its theme with the ensemble’s debut combining professional and amateur singers repeating quotes from literature and theory luminaries such as abstract painter Agnes Martin, writer T.E. Lawrence, and poet/playwright Kathy Acker. Musically, The Air Contains Honey delve into multiple genres like spiritual-jazz, bedroom-pop, and orchestral with rich choral performances cementing their lush sound.
