Premiere: K-Riz - “Remember”
K-Riz is one of Alberta’s best kept secrets. As an Albertan I can assure you, we don’t want him to be a secret, we want to share him with the world! Beginning his hip-hop career in Edmonton before heading south to Calgary, K-Riz has been a staple in western Canadian hip-hop since 2016 and it’s high time the music media cabal in Toronto takes notice.
Today we are excited to help K-Riz premiere the second single from his forthcoming album HVN, due October 16, 2026. “Remember” highlights his impressive vocal range and love of old school R&B while offing a nod to Michael Jackson’s “Remember the Time” and the golden era of ‘90s R&B. With producer EL.WAV putting their own sultry stamp on the style, the track honours the past while staying grounded in the present.
Discussing the song, K-Riz stated:
“‘Remember’ is a love song to summer – that feeling when the season is ending and you know you have to go your way and they have to go theirs. It’s about watching the sunset and the waves on a beach, being happy and in love, and wishing you could stay in that beautiful place forever. Musically, I wanted to stay true to ‘90s R&B, which to me is the golden age of R&B for songwriting and execution. Working with EL.WAV, who is rooted in hip-hop but has house and dance music influences, brought another kind of groove to the track. This song was also a chance for me to lean into another side of myself – all vocals without any rapping – and make something that feels warm and full of love.”
The single arrives today with an accompanying video, directed by Natalie Meyer, that follows a short-lived summer love story from first spark to bittersweet end.
