Single Premiere: "Party Girl" - Shunk
Formed in 2022, Shunk is a Montreal-based band blending an eclectic choice of genres from post-punk, dreampop, shoegaze, indie pop, and opera into a very enchanting sound curated by Gabrielle Domingue, Adrian Vaktor, Julia Hill, and Peter Baylis.
In 2024, Shunk made its way through the festival circuit across the east coast with performances at New Colossus Festival 2024 (NYC), Suoni Per Il Popolo 2024 and Taverne Tour 2024 (MTL). In 2025, Shunk has already had a busy year so far as an upcoming support act for U.S. Girls at Pop Montreal as well as with a debut album released earlier this year— you can check out a review of Shunkland by our very own Mikail Kayani right here at Cups N Cakes Network!
The latest single “Party Girl” offers a summer track for those fleeting and evanescent encounters at the dance floor embodied through the titular Party Girl. Musically and lyrically, the song paints a picture of her coquet aesthetic world to a point where you want to enmesh yourself into her fantasy. Glossy guitars and a range of dreamy vocal performances give this song the oomph that characterizes the unique style that Shunk is fleshing out early in their work.
Shunk’s busy schedule doesn’t stop here! If you happen to find yourself in Europe this coming November, Shunk will be joining Tops for their 2025 European tour. This exclusive teaser only makes us more curious about what else they are devising from behind the scenes.
