Single Premiere: Burs - “Little Heart”
The Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to premiere the third single from the just-announced LP from Toronto-based quartet Burs. Significance, Otherness was announced this morning, and will be coming out on November 21st, 2025 via Birthday Cake records. The announcement comes after the release of two singles earlier in 2025, “Soil” and “Blackflies”, and together with their new single “Little Heart”, the stage is set for what is sure to be an excellent record from the Ontarians.
Significance, Otherness sees Burs pushing past their folk-rock roots into more experimental territory, without leaving behind the keen melodic sense and tasteful playing of their previous work. And “Little Heart” serves as a great demonstration of the new sonic direction; there is a folk inspired melody, with a meandering quality not unlike something you’d expect to hear on a Joni Mitchell record, but with these enormous and dense background vocals and all kinds of ear candy that pulls you in with ease. The LP sees Burs teaming up with producers Eli Browning (Sister Ray) and Adam Brisbin (Buck Meek), who do a great job of letting the spirit of the band shine through in the songs, while expanding the sonic horizons of the group.
You can listen to “Little Heart” wherever you stream your music, and Significance, Otherness can be preordered ahead of its November 21st release date via the Bandcamp link below.
