Wordburglar, Jackson Ramsey, À La Mode, and Wares

Wordburglar - Burgonomic

In this love letter to old school hip hop, Burgonomic is fifteen tracks of classic styled beats featuring a variety of artists. With beats and vocals by Timbuktu and cuts from Buck 6, to name a few, this album is an ensemble of talent coming together to deliver some clever wordplay in a fun package.

Jackson Ramsey - Youngness

Here’s some experimental electronic music from the West coast: this nine piece release from Vancouver is chock full of eccentricities and openness for experimentation. Each song takes a route of its own in unpredictable bliss. Diving into soundscapes previously uncharted, this album is the perfect amount of thought provoking strangeness for a fellow like me.

À La Mode - Air Conditioning

From Winnipeg is À La Mode, and their newest single Air Conditioning has a bubbly folk sound and some rather cozy lyrics about thrifted shirts and a car held together by bondo. Its rough-edged lyrics contrast the single's sound in a way that feels like a clash between dream pop and Tom Waits.

Wares - Complete Control (Devours Remix)

This retelling of an old Wares track brings a new perspective to a modern classic. Remixed by Devours, Complete Control goes darker and hits harder than its original version, adding an apocalyptic vibe to the lyrics that employ existentialist themes. Overall, it’s fascinating to see this track through a different lens.
