Yaris Paris, AANTHEMS, LeMaster, and CAST

Yaris Paris - Maximize Comfort

Yaris Paris released their new full length LP, Maximize Comfort on August 23, and hot damn if it ain’t crisp! I hope I am correct in this, Yaris Paris is Corbin Pawer and he recorded, self-produced, and wrote the entire album. I am not sure of Corbin’s previous experience, but this album is pro-level! So much ear candy dancing around in the speakers!

AANTHEMS - New Ruins

I am all over the concept theme of AANTHEMS’ new five track EP, New Ruins! I am disappointed I didn’t cover this sooner, but in any event, HERE IT IS! I have gone with the track “World Inferno” as my lyric of the week: “Fear is the collar, Almighty Dollar, Blood on the altar, the best they can offer….you!” The album is both aggression inducing and therapeutic at the same time.

LeMaster - Martyrology

When a band comes up with something I’ve never heard before, I LOVE IT! If you listen to music with headphones or good speakers, you may have noticed tom rolls will travel from left to right or vice versa. Well, these creative folks did that with a guitar riff! Brilliant! I had to backtrack to make sure I wasn’t hearing things. All kinds of catchy, and all kinds of righteous PUNK!

CAST - Identities

Vancouver’s CAST are absolutely a cast of beautiful multi-instrumentalists. They find a pocket and have the wherewithal to exploit it for all it is worth! I am absolutely stunned by the pleasing and playful trading of instruments, not so much a call and response, but rather a full conversation between longtime best friends. And Jessica Leger’s vocals are reminiscent of the great Joni Mitchell.
