Premiere: Eliza Niemi - Vinegar A Side (Ben Mike Tape R3MIX)

Eliza Niemi last brought us new music in 2020 with her fantastic EP, Glass which ended making the list of our favourite EPs of that year. She never released new recorded work in 2021 but instead worked at growing her label, Vain Mina, with releases from Roo, sloburn, and Soul Boner (who’s debut EP found its way onto our 2021 Best EPs list).

Just when you thought the year was all wrapped up, Niemi springs a surprise remix of her debut EP, Vinegar. The remix was done by Ben Mike and is called Vinegar A side (Ben Mike Tape R3MIX). Highly experimental and often times sounding nothing like its source material, Ben Mike’s remix of Vinegar draws conceptual roots from Terry Riley’s epic ‘67 tape improvisation, You’re NoGood. The result is a dream-like score of beautiful, otherworldly soundscapes.
