Premiere: The Knot No Howz - “Pacific Rim”

It’s safe to say that I’m always gonna have love for the The Knot No Howz. Huh? you ask… The who not nows? No silly! The “not-no-hows” but spelt funny. So why do I always have time for this band? Well it’s quite simple, one of their members is Noreen Hurst and Noreen was an enthusiastic volunteer for Cups N Cakes in our infancy. Oh, and I should also mention their music rips!

This little punk rock band from small town Bruderheim, Alberta prove that despite the negative attention the Alberta small towns are getting (and for good reason), there are awesome folks outside the big cities too!

It’s truly a pleasure to be able to help Noreen and The Knot No Howz with a premiere of the second single from their upcoming sophomore album. Check out “Pacific Rim” below and follow the link in the player to pre-order What? to show some love. The album arrives on June 26th with a release party at BlakBar in Edmonton. Be there or be square!

Jeff MacCallum

Jeff MacCallum is our founder. He created Cups N Cakes simply because he had a love of local music. Soon the platform grew beyond the confines of his scene in Edmonton to include all of Canada.

"I did it all very DIY. Everything you see was me learning on the fly. I'm a carpenter not a musician, or a journalist, or a publicist... I'm a carpenter and a weird crazy music fan that thought he could do something fun that might benefit something I care about"

Over the years, MacCallum's commitment to elevating Canadian music earned him a spot as a Polaris Prize Juror, a WCMA Juror, a consultant for music festival curation, and a dear friend to independent music in Canada.
