Kristian North, Michael Scott Dawson, FRANKIIE, and Ryan Bourne

Kristian North - Pseudoscience Fiction

Pseudoscience Fiction has the bass grooves free flowing and locked up! A music supervisor could take any one of the eight tracks on this album, and insert them into any 80’s movie. I taped my head to my shoulder, but no way could the beats be defeated.

Michael Scott Dawson - Find Yourself Lost

Michael Scott Dawson took a new approach on his third solo album. For the first time, he branched out, collaborating with other musicians. Find Yourself Lost is a peaceful vision inducing country ambient album. Dawson drew from traditional country instruments, and samples from an unlabeled yard sale cassette tape containing line dancing recordings. Brilliant!

FRANKIIE - Between Dreams

Psychedelic rockers FRANKIIE released Between Dreams on June 2 via Paper Bag Records. I have to focus on the track, “Right on Time”, and yes, it is right on time. The track's time signature seamlessly and playfully shifts back and forth to half-time, creating an ear pleasing chemistry!

Ryan Bourne - Plant City

Calgary’s Ryan Bourne released his sophomore album, Plant City, on May 5. Bourne is an extremely talented artist and songwriter and Plant City certainly proves it. The album puts me in a frame of mind as to how life in Avatar would be if the sun shone psychedelic rays!
